The most important requirement for car owners is to make sure that they have proper and adequate car insurance. However it is a challenge for those drivers and car owners who do not have a clean license to get car insurance that they can afford, let alone fining an insurer that will insure them. In most cases it does not pose any difficulty for licence holders to obtain car insurance but the challenge there is for those who do not have a clean driver’s license.

The first step to obtaining a car insurance policy for your vehicle is to contact the car insurance providers, there are several of them in many parts of the country and they have different quotes and requirements. Contact as many providers and assess the rates they charge to provide the insurance policies. By law it is up to you to provide the correct details when it comes to your driving history and convictions.
If you fail to provide your insurance company with the correct details then you are held liable in every way, should you be involved in an accident you insurance will be void and all costs will have to be met by you.

There is no easy way to get car insurance if you have a flawed licence the only thing you can do is wait until all fine, points and penalties have expired and apply to have them removed from your licence. This way you are not cheating you have served your time and are now free to start afresh.

There are many insurers that will accept you as a customer but you may have to pay a slightly higher premium to the standard driver as you will be considered a higher risk offender. If this is the case do not be put off, usually after a year of good clean driving the renewal should come down slightly.

Unfortunately there is no way to cheat when it comes to getting cheaper insurance coverage for a driver with a blemished driving licence. Contrary to what you read and the scam books that promise to be able to get you cheaper insurance there is no other alternative. The best thing to do is to be a safe as careful driver from the beginning and not to pick up bad driving habits along the way. Once you fall into the trap that ‘everyone else does it’ then you too will fall under the category ‘reckless driver’ and they are the worst offenders

Driving uninsured is an offence in many civilized societies. The penalties for the offenders vary depending on the way every society perceives the gravity of the offence. What I cannot understand is why most drivers especially the younger ones are always vulnerable to this offence. Even though they know that the gravity of the offence of driving without insurance is punishable by fine and even disqualification from driving, many of the offenders still derive joy in driving uninsured.

Driving without insurance could be as result of the fact that the cost of insurance is very high. The cost of insurance such as comprehensive insurance cost much beyond the reach of many drivers. What that means is that those who are anxious to drive but could not afford the cost of insurance just dash to the road without getting proper and legal car insurance.

Becoming insured before driving a vehicle is one of the most important things to do when becoming a qualified driver. Some interest groups are concerned that the greater percentage of accidents and other dangerous driving habits are found more among the uninsured drivers. Moreover there is the worry that unless the uninsured drivers are apprehended and punished it will send a dangerous signal that the society is incapable of enforcing its rules and therefore could make other citizens who comply with the insurance requirement to disobey the law as well. The effect on the society is already being reflected by some governmental agencies. There is already this concern that the greater percentage of all those who are guilty of driving while drunk are more in those without insurance. In a country like the UK for instance it is believed according to the Motor Insurance Bureau, there is the likelihood that those who are found guilty of driving without insurance are about ten times and even more than the other offenders. It is a statistics like this that pushed a major non governmental organization the Road peace to move for tougher sanctions against the law breakers.

It is good that the government should enforce their law that is why it is recommended that the government and the law enforcement agents must have to ensure that the insurance papers of the vehicle drivers are updated frequently. However those who are complaining of the higher cost of insurance policy for the drivers are better advised to make diligent search for a cost effective insurance provider. They can employ the services of the insurance comparison outfit. Through their services they can have access to many insurance service providers and through that mean they will definitely settle at a cheaper and even better service provider. Alternatively they can also consider making use of the services of the third party instead of the comprehensive insurance policy such has the benefit of cutting down on the cost of insurance.

No doubt you will have seen the drink driving campaign where a man who ran over a little boy sees the boy everywhere he goes. Not only will he have to live with it forever but also has to endure the consequences of not being able to drive. A person who is just twice over the national limit for drinking is up to 30 times more likely to be involved in an accident or cause it. As everyone has different tolerance levels, it does not mean to say that because you have been drinking for 10 years you can handle it and therefore carry on driving. Even if you feel ok to drive the chances are your reaction times are slower than usual but only you can’t tell the difference.

The consequences of driving when drunk
Apart from losing your independence and not being able to drive, if you are involved in an accident, your insurer will not pay out and you in turn will also lose your vehicle. You may end up in prison and also have a fine to pay. You might in time be able to drive again but not before you can show that you are a competent driver who will not make the same mistake again.

It is harsh to say but in most cases drink driving drivers get off really lightly and even when a person dies as a result of it, the chances are the convicted driver will not be that greatly affected. In some cases where drink driving has caused death, the driver is still allowed to drive and has minimum points added to their licence and a short spell of up to 14 weeks in jail. This is the harsh reality to victims and their families that have been affected by drink driving. There have been endless campaigns to try and change this around but the law surrounding drink driving and death is still a little bit hazy at the moment.

There have been many high profile celebrities who have been caught drink driving with many England footballers and female celebs such as Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears to name a few. They have all gotten out of it due to good lawyers who sometimes find loopholes to get them out of it. If that fails, they play on the fact that they are celebrities and daily pressures sometimes make them forget and they do crazy things. Though we all know this is not a good enough excuse, they will sadly get out of it though.

Dangerous driving has recently become a habit which some drivers have resorted to. To see dangerous and reckless driving in action you don’t need to travel far, they are right here on our roads, you can see them on the streets of the cities. The problem with dangerous driving is not only that they are threats to themselves; they are also threats to the society as well. It is therefore a dangerous habit which can be addressed by all.

In one way or the other you may have had an unpalatable encounter with reckless and dangerous drivers, either you have it directly or friend and family must have been a victim of dangerous driving. Many people have been maimed while several others lost their lives to the activities of the dangerous and reckless drivers. Car insurance is skyrocketing beyond the reach of many people; this is because the insurance companies have to reflect the cost of accident claims. It is very much understandable that more than eighty percent of accidents are caused by dangerous driving.

Some factors have been identified as the major reason for dangerous driving on the part of the vehicle drivers. The common factor always cited is lack of experience; this is prevalent among the younger drivers than the aged drivers. Most of the younger drivers are inexperienced and some of them hardly interpret road signs and therefore they do not even understand the driving rules. The other reason always identified is the poor reflexes and senses. Most drivers have very poor reflexes and they could be subjected to dangerous driving especially in the night. This problem is prominent among the older drivers.
Although we all applaud the emergence of technology as having facilitated the method of doing things, it is however contributing to the incidence of dangerous driving. Mobile phone is now abused by most drivers as some of them make calls while driving on the highways and even on the streets. The worst dimension of mobile phone use text messaging whilst driving. Moreover, a dangerous driving habit is application of makeup most especially by female vehicle drivers. In the same way eating while driving is a dangerous habit which many drivers have taken to. All these contribute to accident because they distract the attention of the driver.

The most notorious dangerous driving habit is the speeding. Speeding is the reason behind most accidents. Certain percentage of speeding can be tolerated on the roads but to speed in the neighbourhood is completely unacceptable. Speedy drivers are dangerous to everyone, drivers and pedestrians.

The only way out of dangerous driving is the change of habit and attitude to driving. They should try to know the driving rules and always try to obey them.

For people who have convictions on their driving licence, finding a decent quote for insurance purposes is like looking for a needle in a haystack. As soon as your licence is stamped with penalty points and motoring offence listed, insurers run a mile from you because you’ve made it to their high risk group which can cost them serious money. Getting cheap car insurance for convicted drivers is not an easy hurdle but equipped with the right information and true determination, a reasonable quote can be obtained.

Many insurers will bluntly refuse to consider your application for car insurance if you do not have a clean driving licence and have convictions which are likely to make them doubt your ability to drive. Therefore your choices are quite limited to start off with but there’s still hope.

Drivers who have DR10 (drink driving), DD40 (dangerous driving), DR80 (drug driving) or have caused deaths through their irresponsible driving are more likely to have a hard time getting insured. This is not to say that people who have other convictions will find it relatively easy to get covered. For example, if you have an IN10 conviction code on your licence, insurers will most certainly hesitate to quote you because you’re someone who doesn’t abide by the laws and it is illegal to drive any vehicle without the minimum third party insurance cover.

All too often, this leads to having convicted drivers pushed towards becoming more of an outlaw because society seems to be against them. If you in your goodwill are trying to get insured but nobody is willing to give you a decent quote or just rejecting your application every time, then you are more likely to drive without insurance of any kind. This is not advised though because the consequences can be catastrophic afterwards. You can be fined a huge amount and face criminal prosecution which can lead to jail sentence and imprisonment is not something that anyone really wants.

Whether you have received convictions whilst using your bike, driving your van or your car, the best solution is to contact specialist insurance companies instead of going to the common insurers. Mainstream insurance companies are fine when you have a clean driving record, that is, no penalty points and convictions. Insurers specialising in convicted drivers will be able to give you the cheapest quote because that’s their area of expertise. They will be able to assess your application for insurance more appropriately and disregard any prejudice that mainstream insurers show and you will therefore obtain as cheap a car insurance quote as you will ever get based on your circumstances. Some specialist companies will even take into consideration your previous no claims bonus (NCB) provided it is within the last 2 years.

So whether you are a young convicted driver or an experienced driver who has received his first even conviction, don’t get your hopes down just yet. Mistakes happen in life and if you’re a reformed driver now, then there are insurers who will see past your motoring offences and offer you a reasonable premium. There are many drivers who have been banned and disqualified from driving for a number of years and the mere thought of getting back on the roads can be daunting especially if you have contacted mainstream insurance companies first and you’ve got the shock of your life at how much it’s going to cost you to insure your vehicle.

The advice is that for convicted driver insurance, only specialist companies can give you decent quotes. So you will probably waste your time contacting the usual common insurers and you might even feel hopeless and frustrated and in order to avoid any disappointment of any sort, it is best to get in touch with the people specialising in the business for drivers with convictions.
